Following a career as a graphic designer, a deepening appreciation of contemporary art and craft led Karen to transfer those skills into making.

As a mixed media artist, her practice is rooted in the natural behaviour of materials, respecting the interplay between light and material. Working primarily in ceramics, she allows the clay to fragment and distort on its own terms, producing monochromatic works that reveal an unexpected inner beauty.

Her work is often shaped by familial stories, through which she explores both emotional and physical connections. For her BA in Fine Art dissertation, Karen examined her relationship with the colour white – a preoccupation that has proven central to her practice and continues to resonate throughout her work.
