Following a career as a graphic designer, an ongoing appreciation of contemporary art and craft led Karen to transfer her design skills to making. ​​

 

As a mixed media artist, her practice focuses on how light interacts with her materials. Working predominantly in ceramics, she allows the materials to show their inner beauty without distraction.

Drawing inspiration from familial stories, her work enables her to explore both emotional and physical connections. For her BA in Fine Art dissertation, she explored her relationship with the colour white, which has been fundamental to her practice and has resonated with her throughout her studies and practice.​
